Schuessler Salts, also known as Biochemistry according to Dr. Schuessler or Minerals according to Dr. Schuessler, are a form of alternative medicine based on the principles of German physician Dr. Wilhelm Heinrich Schuessler (1821-1898). Dr. Schuessler developed the theory that diseases are caused by a deficiency of certain mineral salts in the body and created a list of mineral compounds which he termed "functional agents."

Schuessler salts are typically available in the form of tablets - also lactose-free - that are dissolved in the mouth and can be found in drugstores, containing diluted amounts of these mineral salts. Each Schuessler salt is associated with specific functions in the body/cells, such as supporting the immune system, regulating the acid-base balance, or promoting the elasticity of skin and connective tissue.

In Traditional European Naturopathy (TEN), the selection of Schuessler salts often occurs based on individual constitution. Similar to other therapeutic areas of TEN, a holistic approach is pursued. This means that not only symptoms but also causes are addressed.

In addition to other TEN diagnostic methods, facial diagnosis is used here. Facial analysis in relation to Schuessler salts is based on the idea that certain signs on the face may indicate possible imbalances in the body, such as dry skin, acne, facial pallor or redness, dry lips, angular cheilitis, among others.

Example Classic General: The hot Seven

• Take 10 tablets of Schuessler Salt No. 7
• Dissolve in hot (not boiling) water, 2 dl
• Drink warm sip by sip

Effect:

• Muscle relaxation, after sports or during menstrual discomfort
• Nerve relaxation, anti-stress remedy
• Digestion, for cramp-like digestive discomfort
• Headaches and migraines, supportive measure
• Sleep disorders

In TEN, Schuessler Salt No. 7 is specifically used in certain constitutions that exhibit a choleric imbalance and works on optimizing bodily fluids.
